This place is incredible! Like every other review says, you MUST get the Shuban sandwich, but you need to ask for it because I didn't notice it on the menu. First bite into the sandwich was immediately followed by "We're going back..." The sandwich was beyond words. Guys behind the counter were also very friendly and patient considering it was our first time there. Anyone coming to this side of FL has to stop here for some great food!

This was awful. A friend recommended the place on our way to a concert. Maybe I got the wrong food, but the hot dog I half consumed seemed undercooked and pricey. Needless to say I would not recommend.

Did some Yelp research and found this place near where we were staying. I recommended the BF order a Shuban because I read that was the best sandwich. As I don't eat pork or beef, I knew the turkey was my only option. BF LOVED, LOVED, LOOOOVVVVVEEEEDDD the Shuban. We discussed it as being a 'debris' Cuban. Like the debris Po Boys in New Orleans where the crispy, leftover chunks of roast beef are made into a sandwich, the pork on this sandwich was chunks, some crispy, some really juicy - and then all the rest of the Cuban stuff. He also got papas rellenas (seasoned beef filled fried potato balls) which he said were the best he had in years. I ordered Turkey, Honey Mustard, Gouda, lettuce, and tomato. The bread was fresh, turkey thinly sliced, veggies crisp. I was satisfied although it wasn't anything particularly special. The guy working is apparently there all the time, I am not sure if he's the owner but I don't think so. He was social and nice. He made the food quickly but was there alone so it might be a problem if it had been busy. We will definitely go back!

Shubee Doobee DO! I can't believe I've driven by this place for 5 years and never noticed it. Thanks to Yelp, Eureka! Literally a hole in the wall, this place is something special. Pat aka Shubee, makes one heckuva Shuban sandwich. The pulled pork cooked overnight, the Boar's Head ham, the garlic crusted bread-what an awesome sandwich. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Like the Terminator, I'll be back.

Our first visit; there will be many more. We had the Shuban and the crab cake sandwich. Oddly, the Shuban is not on the paper menu - ask for it anyway. The crab cake sandwich was fine. Large, no filler that I could detect, though there must have been something to make it hang together so it could be fired to a nice albeit thin crust. Tasty. The roll was perhaps a little too thick, but smooshy enough to work with the soft crab cake. But the Shuban is outrageously good. It's not a Cubano - it's what you'd get if you handed the Cuban sandwich concept to an Italian from New Jersey. Juicy pulled pork, thickish ham, pickles, and mustard inside an Italian sub roll sprinkled with garlic before being pressed. Big enough to serve one teenager or two seniors. The only thing harder than eating the whole thing is NOT eating the whole thing. A couple of benches to sit outside - no tables. They assured us we could take the food into the bar next door, but it was a little too smokey for my wife. I must say that the Shubano practically begs for a good beer. These sandwiches are not cheap, but they are well worth the price. Credit cards accepted.

The crab cake sandwich is spectacular. Maryland style lump crab meat can't be beat.

Amazing food!!! Down here on vacation and saw this across the street and had to try it!!! The crab sandwich was just amazing!!! We also had the don't ask about it burger which was the best burger I have ever ate!! The owner is extremely friendly and makes the experience even better!!! Will come back next year and check it out
(5)Wan H.
Tiny shack with great sandwiches. Best in the area by far and very reasonably priced for the quality. Crab cake was amazing and made fresh to order.
(5)Julie O.
We stopped here to grab a sandwich on our last day at the beach. If only we had known how good it is we would have made a point to visit more than once for sure. We both ordered the crab cake sandwich. The first word from hubby's mouth after trying it was "heavenly." I don't think I've ever heard him say that about anything and I have to agree. The price is not cheap ($11.95 each), but this isn't your typical sandwich. The crab is really fresh and tasty and it was cooked perfectly. It's served on a big kaiser roll - very filling. We brought it back to our condo (as others have pointed out, it's a carryout place) to have with our own chips and soda, so that made up for the extra money we would have spent at an dine-in restaurant. The owner of the shop was so friendly and welcoming that I even left a tip (which I normally don't do for a walk up to-go order). We'll be back next year!
(5)Brian K.
Went here today. Staying at the Double Tree Resort on the beach. The hotel is directly across the street from the shack. The prices were good especially for the amount of good you receive. I got a HUGE sand which stacked with so much meat and great fries! I definitely plan on gong back while I'm staying here. The man who works here, who I assume is the owner is so nice and welcoming. Very easy to talk to and he knows how to make a great sandwich.
(5)Nelson D.
easy 5 star. Shubee can put his sandwiches up there with the best I've had. It's literally a shack with a bench outside. bar right next door. Order go have a draft or 2 or three...... lol. Not expensive. The shuban is his take on a Cuban. It's better than most cubans I've had. This You can have over and over thats how good it is. Also had the crabcake sandwich, huge cabcake. the primo is am Italian masterpiece. Shubee only uses boarshead meats. If your in the area go there I highly recommend it
(5)Josh O.
Awesome sandwiches! We were at the doubletree whose restaurant leaves much to be desired. We walked over very easily - it's basically just across the street - and had a great experience! We both had the crabcake sandwich, was PERFECT! The cake is a bit tall and not wide enough to fill the bun, but was you bite and eat it it spreads out perfectly and fills the bun without spilling over. Phenominal taste. Old bay fries were also great. We went back the next day! Primo sandwich was really good and the turkey was good too! I think the crab cake was the best of the three. Cuban is only on Saturdays, unfortunately we weren't able to try it. Great people work here too - really friendly and informative!
(5)Dani A.
This was our very first stop here and it was perfect. We drove down from Kentucky and decide to pick up sandwiches to bring back to our condo and this was perfect. We took the reviews advice and ordered the Primo, Reddington and Shuban. So much meat and high quality. I had the reddington and the turkey, havarti with the thin slice of green apple and honey mustard was so flavor. The only place to eat there was the attached bar so not super family friendly however would be great to pick up and bring to the beach.
(5)Tyler J.
I had the gyro with crab balls. This place is the real deal. My sandwich was 11.75 and was LOADED crab balls. Totally recommend this little shack. Also the dude working was awesome. Super chill.
(5)Frank A.
Awesome! Great owner who cares and can cook. His crab balls were amazing. He even made them into lettuce wraps for us. He just placed 4th in Las Vegas for a food network competition and 10th overall! Can't wait to try the rest of his menu. It's not a fancy place on a side street off Gulf Blvd and there are some benches to sit on or take it to go. He is from Baltimore so you know he knows how to prepare crab!
(5)R J.
I'm a sucker for a good sandwich. A quick yelp search led me here and I am ecstatic! I had the Cuban - crispy deliciousness. As soon as I move to the area next month, I'll be trying every special on the menu and enjoying it on the beach.
(5)Mica F.
Great gourmet sandwich joint on the beach. No place to sit, just walk up or park and get your eats. Per my 10yo son, "This is an awesome sandwich!" I agree! Nice seasoning on hearty bread that holds up to the ingredients. Crab has kick to it, very nice. The twist on a Cuban, called a Shuban, is to die for! Very creative menu. Sandwiches are huge! Highly recommend.
(5)Bonita S.
EVERYTHING at Shubee Shack is the BEST of the best. During the winter months when we are in Florida we (and our friends) order from Pat on a regular basis and everything he makes is excellent. His soups and sandwiches are wonderful. He has also catered the Grand Shores West St. Patrick's Day party for several years (about 160 people) and has done a great job. Stop by and see Pat - he treats you right, and the wait for his freshly made sandwiches are worth it!
(5)Linda O.
I have been wanting to try this place for a few years. Finally tried it last year when I was there, and ordered from Shubee Shack 3 times in that trip alone. The soups are great., I usually let the "chef" aka sandwich magician create something for me. I have never been disappointed yet. Headed back down in a few weeks and already salivating thinking about it. Plus - they deliver!
(4)David R.
This is a true beach area sandwich shop; a walk up window to place orders and a couple of benches out front to sit on while a sandwich professional creates your masterpiece. Don't fret. The fruit of your patience will be the pleasure of eating a truly delicious marriage of meat, cheese, fresh bread, and all the supporting characters. My wife enjoyed the crab balls which were praise worthy in their own right but do yourself a favor and go straight for the " shuban"; you won't be disappointed. Given there's no place to eat your meal and their relatively high prices, the food quality MUST cover those two negatives and it does in spades! I'll probably never be back to Redington Beach but will pull whatever strings possible just to eat at the Shubee Shack again.
(5)David C.
A shack is exactly what it is as its very small so keep your eyes peeled when you are looking for it. We ate here on a recent family vacation. The high review on Yelp caught my eye, which it seemed to be worthy of. Anytime you see the Boars Head sign you know its a credible spot. I would recommend the Shuban sandwich, which didn't seem to be on the menu but is the must have sandwich. My step brother was bummed because he thought they were fooling him. Don't even bother looking at the menu. Just get the Shuban and enjoy. If you have a big order like we did call ahead as its a very small operation so it may take 20 or 30 minutes.
(4)John F.
Great sandwiches! My wife and both loved this place. It's a small walk up shack with super friendly owners. They fry the pepperoni/ salami which takes these sandwiches to another level. We got a side of malt vinegar fries; they are really thin and crispy. Try this place!
(5)Mark S.
Loved this place for a quick sandwich on a foggy-sunny day in Florida. I had to get the Shuban and it was great and my wife got a Crabcake sandwich. Both were great and would recommend to anyone looking for a sandwich!
(5)Alejandro R.
Oh man! This is the spot right here! Everything is made to order and sooo worth the wait. I'm from Chicago and have been a self proclaimed sandwich expert for most of my life...this place deserves every bit of those 5 stars! Well done guys!
(5)Deborah R.
Shubee Shack for St. Patty's? Yes! I bought 4 corned beef and cabbage dinners and my friends and I were blown away. The c. beef was the best and most tender, no fat c. beef we have ever had and the carrots, cabbage and potatoes were great. Did I mention that the entire meal wasn't salty like many are? I love this place for sandwiches and their crab soup but now I can't wait for next St. Patty's Day. Deb
(5)Yo Y.
Awesome place, owner is hilarious. Good, quick sandwiches for about $8, but unlike all the touristy places around here, for 8 bucks you actually get an $8 sandwich, not a $4 sandwich that you pay $8 for. Highly recommend.
(5)Laurie T.
Great crab sandwiches and unbelievable crab soup! This is a tiny place, but the food is excellent. My husband and I have had the crab sandwiches twice this week. Large crab cake on a yummy roll. Lump crab meat and bay seasoning with lettuce and tomato. Best crab soup I think I have ever eaten, including crab bisque from San Fran pier.
(5)Mike R.
Excellent sandwiches and soups! Sporty's Bar next door lets you come in and eat at their tables, plus you can get a beer to go with your food!
(5)Heather R.
Holy smoly, did we just have two GREAT sandwhiches. I had the Shuban. The homemade pork was delicious on the yummiest garlic toasted bread. He had a build your own sub with so much meatiness it, it about put him in a food coma (in a good way). The owner was friendly, nice, witty, and truly cares about his customers. We highly recommend stopping by.
(5)Susan S.
Move in near by month ago and tried the Shrimp Salad .... awesome!! Will be going back soon.
(4)Kathy P.
Great sandwiches. The people are friendly, the bread is great, the sandwiches are amazing! Order the primo and you won't be disappointed !!
(5)Jeff W.
Put simply; amazing sandwiches. Best capicola I have ever tasted on the "Primo". My friend ordered the Roast Beef (forgot the name of the sandwich) and it was equally amazing. Go Here!! You'll LOVE it!
(5)Holly Y.
The best sammies on the beach! I've heard the Cubans (Shuban) are the best, but the veggie sandwiches are to die for. Wish there was a spot for dining...but this food is so good that I can complain!
(5)Geoff C.
This place has awesome sandwiches. I have been twice and got 3 different sandwiches. They were all stacked with bore's head meat. Love the 12 grain bread. Today asked the owner to make me a good healthy sandwich. He made a 12 grain thin slice turkey with jalapeño havardi cheese honey mustard thin green apple slices lettuce and tomato. This sandwich was amazing! Also had the cream of crab soup and was pleasantly surprised how loaded with crab this soup was. Easy to drive by this place I did the first time but find it and you will get a killer lunch. Wish they had a big picnic table or something seating is an issue so it's to go basically. Will return for sure
(5)Brian G.
Wow, who would have thought this little shack could produce such great sandwiches, the Cuban was awesome! And my wife really liked the beef. We will be back again.
(5)Bill H.
5 STAR FOOD! For sure one of if not the best place to get a sandwich on the beach anywhere between St Pete Beach & Clearwater Beach. All orders cooked to order. Super Size, gourmet servings and great very friendly service from the owner. Artison sandwiches for the price of Subway. Great cook with well seasoned sauces and dips usually. I always go for the daily special. Today was 3 Shrimp taco's for $6.00 The shrimp were cooked perfectly and served on fresh corn tortillas with a Kiwi sauce with some fresh peppers. Just enough spice and fruit with the shrimp. DELICIOUS. I could have had 6 they were so good. Only drawback is this place is walk up with only bench seating outside. Not a problem given the food quality for me personally but some may p[refer to sit at a table. It's on the bench or to go. A great place if you are staying at one of the local hotel to walk to. I hear they will start delivering soon. This is a local favorite for me. The only reason I did not give 5 stars overall as the seating may be an issue for some.
(4)J. Daniel B.
It's hard for me to give a walk up sandwich shop a five star, but this one deserves it. I am a local and have NEVER had anything but great food here. They will customize for you as well. Hole in the wall location, hall of fame sandwiches. A must do down here at the beach. No sitting here, just grinning!
(5)Tracey C.
Stopped here on my way back home for a roadie sandwich. Was recommended to try the SHUBAN, Shubee Shack's version of the Cuban! Sandwich was off the chain! Rich meats including home roasted Pork, great crisp bread . . . Too bad its 250 miles from where I live or I'd be eating here all of the time!
(5)Brant M.
I happened upon this deli just looking for a quick bite for lunch. A small shop but a very warm and friendly greeting from the owner/operator - Pat. Bringing his own style to a regular turkey sandwich, Pat hit it with havarti cheese, green apple slices and a honey mustard to play off the apple. Getting all gourmet for the price of a regular old sandwich. The place has only been open two months as of this post but already has become a local favorite. The selections are perfect for lunch on the beach, to bring along on the boat or to just drop by for a decent bite. Bring your cash because they currently do not accept cards. Boar's Head products are a plus but the real draw is enjoying the company while your order is prepared. Looking forward to going back to try some other offerings from the menu.

I visited Shubee Shack for the first time today and must say my experience doesn't warrant rave reviews, like others on this site, but I am willing to try the place again. Here's why: The Sanwich-as recommended by others I ordered the daily special. The day's offering was shrimp salad on kaiser or hoagie roll. Although I've never woken to a craving for shrimp salad, I must admit I would welcome this chilled, fresh and succulent feast again; especially on a balmy beach day. I appreciated the chef's enthusiasm for his freshly made dish and enjoyed the addition of minced red onion. My palate wouldn't object to a little more zing, but based on ingredient quality and quantity it was an A+. Sadly the accompanying sandwich bread was stale; hard as a rock on the edges and too chewy. I would have preferred the shrimp w/o bread as it was too tasty to be hidden inside all that dough. The Fries: not something I generally get excited about, but I must say I was looking forward to having them "Maryland" style. Unbeknownst to me I needed to ask for this as my enormous fries came out plain including sans salt. It would have been great if the person taking my order had offered the different versions. By the way, when I approached the counter I said this was my first visit and asked what she recommended. I didn't get an answer. Maybe she's new. All in all, my 12.50 (including a can of soda) was a little too pricey in relationship to my experience. Had the bread been fresh, my fries been seasoned, and the establishments charisma matched that of the restos FB page, I'd feel better about the money spent. Maybe next time it'll be top notch.

Shubee Shack is a great place for a quick stop. All the eats are made fresh.

Went here based on reviews. Visited this past Sunday. Not sure why such rave reviews. Crab cake sandwich was a small piece on a huge roll, not worth the $11! The burger was a good size, but on a huge roll. If you like rolls and bread, thus is your spot. Not much meat on anything. Skip it. Also be aware there is no seating.
(1)Austin H.
Went back another time and got a crab cake sandwich and my wife got a chicken sandwich. They were even better than the food we had a few days ago. If I could give it 6 stars I would. EAT HERE!!!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!!!

I love this place for sandwiches and their crab soup but now I can't wait for next St. Patty's Day. Deb

Awesome place, owner is hilarious. Good, quick sandwiches for about $8, but unlike all the touristy places around here, for 8 bucks you actually get an $8 sandwich, not a $4 sandwich that you pay $8 for. Highly recommend.

Excellent sandwiches and soups! Sporty's Bar next door lets you come in and eat at their tables, plus you can get a beer to go with your food!

Great sandwiches. The people are friendly, the bread is great, the sandwiches are amazing! Order the primo and you won't be disappointed !!

Put simply; amazing sandwiches. Best capicola I have ever tasted on the "Primo". My friend ordered the Roast Beef (forgot the name of the sandwich) and it was equally amazing. Go Here!! You'll LOVE it!

The best sammies on the beach! I've heard the Cubans (Shuban) are the best, but the veggie sandwiches are to die for. Wish there was a spot for dining...but this food is so good that I can complain!

Wow, who would have thought this little shack could produce such great sandwiches, the Cuban was awesome! And my wife really liked the beef. We will be back again.

It's hard for me to give a walk up sandwich shop a five star, but this one deserves it. I am a local and have NEVER had anything but great food here. They will customize for you as well. Hole in the wall location, hall of fame sandwiches. A must do down here at the beach. No sitting here, just grinning!

Went back another time and got a crab cake sandwich and my wife got a chicken sandwich. They were even better than the food we had a few days ago. If I could give it 6 stars I would. EAT HERE!!!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY!!!!!

The crab cake sandwich is spectacular. Maryland style lump crab meat can't be beat.
